Plan, Agent, and Ask: Mode names and new Ask mode

/Webhound Team

We've updated the mode names in Reports and Datasets so they're clearer, and we've added a new mode called Ask for quick Q&A over your existing report or dataset.

Mode renames

Guided is now Plan — the agent proposes a plan and you approve steps before it runs. One shot is now Agent — the agent runs autonomously until the job is done or the budget is used. Behavior is the same; only the labels changed.

New: Ask mode

In any report or dataset session you can switch to Ask for quick Q&A. The agent answers from your existing document or dataset and can also visit the web when it helps—for example to check if something is still valid or to look up current information. There's no new research run or plan; it's on-demand answers.

Choose Ask from the mode dropdown (Plan | Agent | Ask), type your question, and send. You can stop the answer at any time.

Example questions

  • "Give me a one-paragraph summary of the key findings."
  • "Is the second recommendation on page 3 still valid? Check the date and source."
  • "How many rows in the dataset have no email address?"
  • "What are the three main risks mentioned in the document?"
  • "Look up whether Acme Corp's CEO has changed since this report was written."

Where to find it

On the app home page you'll see the mode dropdown (Plan, Agent, Ask) when starting or in an active session. In-session, switch to Ask anytime to ask questions over your current report or dataset.
